Matt Hoffman is currently a partner and head of talent at venture firm M13. Matt advises M13 founders on best practices for recruiting, developing, engaging and compensating top talent. He sits on the board of several leading HR technnology companies and is a formal advisor to many others. M13 has over $1 billion in AUM, was recently named to Time Magazine's top 100 US VC firms and was also recognized as one of BuiltIn’s Best Places to Work in both Los Angeles (No. 1 in 2025) and New York City for the past two years. Matt is also the NY lead for PeopleTech Partners, an early-stage HR tech accelerator and advisory network.
Previously, Matt was vice president, people at DigitalOcean, where he helped scale the company over four years towards a successful IPO. During Matt's tenure, the company was profiled in HBR for its approach to performance development and named as #1 Company to Work for in NYC. Prior to that Matt led people operations at ReturnPath, which was named the #2 Best Place to Work in the U.S. by Fortune Magazine. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his graduate degree in Organizational Psychology from New York University where he was a MacCracken doctoral fellow.
